Into the Homestretch

Waste not, want not...

88.) LEARN TO SPEAK LATIN
If I had lived in a different time, perhaps I would have already learned this while in school. While the desire to learn this language has waned over the years, I did go as far as buying a Latin to English dictionary. And I look at it from time to time. Though it never happened, I had a goal to go to Mel Gibson's Church in Malibu while I lived in L.A. The mass is done in Latin and would have been quite the adventure.

89.) ENTER THE FBI
I like to watch CRIMINAL MINDS from time to time, so I think my chances are pretty good at getting in. Just need a few lucky breaks, right?

90.) BECOME FAMOUS IN HOLLYWOOD
Just need a few lucky breaks, right? And some dedication and hard work. Though at this point I don't really need fame, just a steady paycheck.

91.) VISIT IRELAND-COMPLETE
I was lucky enough to travel here for about 3 weeks back in 2005. The trip was well worth it and I thank the people that helped me to trave…

Tuesday Calling

(Clearing of throat) I apologize, but I'm back. A sickness came over me the last few days, but I am here now. Let us climb ever closer to the end. And may the odds be ever in your favor? (I added the question mark to hopefully avoid any trademark battles in the future.)

76.) TRAVEL TO EVERY STATE
After nearly 35 years on this planet, I think I've knocked ten states off of this list. I still have a long way to go, but I can do it.

77.) COME EYE TO EYE WITH A GREAT WHITE SHARK
I can make this happen with my great snorkeling adventure. Pictures to follow...

78.) EXPLORE THE BOTTOM OF AN OCEAN
See goal 77.

79.) WRITE A MOVIE SCRIPT AND GET IT SOLD
I have completed 3 movie scripts. One was a horror film optioned to Richard Sankey. For my hard work, he paid off my share of some bills I owed him. So technically I have completed this goal, but am going to call it official when I get paid the handsome sum of at list five figures.

80.) MEET A FORMER OR CURRENT U.S…

A Few Days of Silence...

First off, I apologize. I have been slacking in the blog department for the last few days. There are no excuses, but let me just say... well, nothing. No excuses, right? On with the list...

66.) BE IN A MAJOR PLAY PRODUCTION-COMPLETED
The first play I was in on the main stage at Boise State was "King Stag" directed by Mike Baltzell. The cast I was able to work with was extraordinary and the director was simply amazing. The first play I was in was in the summer of '99. It was entitled "Private Wars" and I acted in it along with Cody Hyslop and Ken Rothwell. And doing this play was the reason I stuck with theatre. I thank both of the actors that I was in this play with for inspiring me every day.

67.) LIVE IN AUSTRALIA
Who wouldn't want to live here, at least for a bit?

68.) LEARN TO SPEAK GERMAN
I guess by time all is said and done, I imagine I'll know how to speak at least 6 languages.

69.) LEARN TO PLAY ICE HOCKEY
Now, I know the r…

The List

Getting back on here a little late tonight. I actually accomplished some good writing before this tonight, so the list is the final task for the evening. Enjoy.

56.) TRAVEL TO SPAIN
I can plan a trip to Spain and France. Seems pretty logical.

57.) VISIT HONG KONG
An ancient city in The Orient. Why not?

58.) BECOME MUSCULAR
I was not very big in the seventh grade. I suppose I thought this would get me all the ladies. I don't really consider this a goal these days, other than maintaining the shape I'm in. And improving on that, of course.

59.) PUBLISH AN ARTICLE IN READERS DIGEST
I believe this goal has become harder to reach. Mostly because I don't believe that READERS DIGEST actually publishes a periodical anymore. I don't even know if it is online. Something I'll have to look into.

60.) VISIT NEW DELHI
I believe I had just seen the movie GANDHI. And I was looking to do good in life.

61.) READ 1000 PAGE BOOK IN 2 DAYS
This is the sole…

The Continuation of the Bucket List...

I watched ST. ELMO'S FIRE again for the first time in ages. At one point, when Judd Nelson is telling Aly Sheedy what records she can take, he tells her she can take the Billy Joel albums but not THE STRANGER. I remembered that I own that record and have been listening to it all weekend. I would say that it is Billy Joel's finest record and definitely one of my all time favorites.

What does this have to do with the bucket list? Nothing, really, except I just wanted a short story before continuing on with the list.

45.) GO SCUBA DIVING
I haven't really been too many places to take advantage of this. I will learn how to do this.

46.) PLAY A GAME OF WATER POLO
I'm sure I have played some form of this game in a recreational sense over the years. What I'm looking for is a competitive game in a full length pool. Don't know how this will happen, but I will find a way.

47.) BECOME AN ARCHITECT
There's time for everything, right?

48.) BUILD A MUSEU…

Keep Rollin', Rollin', Rollin'

Let's just cut to the chase today...

33.) READ THE BIBLE
I have started this goal a few times. And I have read and learned various passages throughout, but I still have not completed it from start to finish. One day...

34.) PHOTOGRAPH BIRDS IN SOUTH AMERICA
Hey, nothing wrong with dreaming. I can get there. I like taking photographs. And what's better than taking pictures of the beautiful birds in a tropical environment.

35.) BE BURIED IN ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY
At this age, I had dreams of being a national hero and one day being buried here. At this point, I would say this goal is a pipe dream. And I supposed, if by an act of God it did happen, any relatives would have to cross this one off the list for me.

36.) OWN A CHIMPANZEE
Who doesn't want to own a monkey or chimpanzee? I really regret not getting that free monkey off of Craig's List all those years ago.

37.) BUILD A SHELTER FOR HOMELESS PEOPLE
This one speaks for itself, really.

38.)…

Give Me Some More...

Yes, I know I skipped a day. I was debating with myself the pros and cons of the "A-Team" movie. I do believe I wasted too much of my time deciding that the movie, aside from one or two moments, was a failure. There goes some more of my youth ruined...

On with the countdown...

22.) STUDY ABORIGINE CULTURE
I do believe I meant that I wanted to study them by living with them. Whether this was a two week expedition or a year long study, I do not know. Still something that might be interesting...

23.) VISIT A GREAT PYRAMID
Still on the list. I think if I can achieve the goal of getting rich, this might happen. Or I can save up enough money to travel there.

24.) LEARN TO SPEAK FRENCH (FLUENTLY)
I took a semester of French in the eight grade. I still remember some of the basics i.e. saying hello and my name is and counting to ten, but I'd like to become conversational. That way when I go there I can properly order a bottle of wine and a loaf of bread.

25.) V…

That Ol' Bucket List Thing

Man, I nearly forgot my own promise. Here's the next batch before I may or may not take the weekend off. Enjoy...

12.) LEARN MORE ABOUT FAMILY HISTORY
I actually did delve into this for a bit. Still not completed, though I do believe I am in charge of carrying on the Haskins' side of the genealogy part of the family tree.

13.) LIVE TO BE 100 YEARS OLD
Guess we'll find out in about 65 years if this one comes true. Does it count if I have my head frozen like Ted Williams?

14.) VISIT MOLLY BROWN MANSION
I believe I saw a film in class about her. It probably also stems from my obsession with The Titanic.

15.) MEET MICHAEL JORDAN
I'd still like to accomplish this one. Maybe it's time I buy a basketball team so I can attend some owner meetings.

16.) START A FAMILY
One day...

17.) GO TO DISNEYLAND-COMPLETED
Now, as a seventh grader, I had been to Disneyland when I was younger. I wanted to go back again so I could remember more of it. And I did. At least three tim…

My Very Own Bucket List

Well now. It certainly has been awhile. As I prepare to sit down to write for a bit, I figured I'd get warmed up with a little writing on ye ol' blog. This one (and the next few) is going to be a bit different. Today I am going to begin with the first ten goals of my very own bucket list.
Now, this isn't an ordinary bucket list that I just started today. This was first written as an assignment in I believe the 7th or 8th grade for one Mr. Weeks. I remember we had been given a handout about a gentleman that set out do do 100 things in his life and thus began a great adventure. Mr. Weeks is one of my teachers of all time and the stuff I learned in his class I can still recall to this day (for the most part).
The list has been expanded over the years to reflect certain points in my life. I will hopefully do ten goals a blog and go from there. One, it will always be a nice writing warm-up. Two, it will hopefully help push me to maybe accomplish some of these goals…
